Dr. Blessan Varghese is a Cardiologist based in Kerala. Currently he serves as Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at VSM Hospital, Mavelikara and is the chief of inerventional cardiology.

Dr. Varghese completed his MBBS from Government Medical College, Calicut, in 2001. Subsequently, he obtained the MD (General Medicine) postgraduate degree from Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Govt. Medical College, Jabalpur and the DM (Cardiology) super-speciality degree from St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore.

Prior to his current assignments, Dr. Varghese gained experience as Senior Resident in Internal Medicine at N S C B Govt. Medical College, Jabalpur; as General Physician at Marthoma Mission Hospital, Chungathara; and as Senior Resident in Cardiology at St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore. He was also a Lecturer in Cardiology at Govt. T D Medical College, Alappuzha.

Dr. Varghese is a member of American Heart Association, European Society of Cardiology and World Heart Federation. He has presented papers and delivered lectures in various national and international congresses like world congress of cardiology and European Society of Cardiology annual congress. He was investigator in renowned international clinical trials like OASIS 6, PLATO, ATMOSHERE, IABP SHOCK etc.

Dr Varghese is specialised in Coronary and Non-coronary Interventions especially Radial approach in Coronary Angioplasty. He has expertise in single chamber and dual chamber Pacemaker implantation. He is specialised in adult and paediatric echocardiography and is an authority in ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. His areas of academic interest include Hypertension, Heart Failure and pulmonary hypertension.
